My secret nettle patch

For the past month or so I have been escaping to a nearby park to harvest wild nettles. Climbing over the fence. Ducking beneath the tangle of branches. Skirting along a stream alive with spring warblers and abundant beaver activity. And with gloved hands filling bags of new nettle growth. And perhaps best of all nettle season fell right when I was getting itchy to start getting comfortable on my new motorcycle. Yes, leather jacket and all, I've been hitting the open road to harvest stinging nettles! So far I've dehydrated a bunch for use in tea and stews. I've also made a ton of nettle-ramp "pesto" for the freezer (simply blanched nettles, wild ramps, olive oil, and a little salt). The harvesting and putting by of food has begun!
